AIMS & OBJECTIVES
In Educational Institutions
The National
Cadet Corps (Nigeria) shall function in Secondary and Tertiary institutions to
combat social decadence through:
i.
Checking all forms of exam malpractices as may be perpetrated by the
students, teachers, invigilators, lecturers and other educational staff;
ii.
Checking criminal acts among students or intruders and detecting any
plot by them to vandalize valuable properties of the school or college or any
form of dissident act of rioting in order to promote internal peace and
security;
iii.
Setting up anti student loitering squads periodically to check
students’ loitering within the premises and in town during school hours, in
school uniform;
iv.
To complement the cadet’s academic education by providing the cadet
with healthy group interaction and activities to develop their mental
alertness, physical bearing fitness, discipline and a more rounded personality.
v.
Will motivate cadets to strongly believe that they can follow any
career path they desire, however, training in the corps will be an asset to
those considering a career in the military and armed forces.
In Youth Development & Empowerment
Assisting
in youth development activities, empowerment and capacity building for youth
creativity and innovations, through:
i.
Harnessing the creative genius of the youths for efficient
performance.
ii.
Identifying tools, techniques and process of critical thinking,
creativity, innovation and discovery to facilitate problem solving and;
iii.
Initiating youth capacity building programmes for empowerment,
development and humanitarian services.
iv.
To provide an opportunity of offering a platform whereby semi-military
training are been imparted into the youths.
v.
To create a human resource of well organized, skilled and motivated
youth, to endow with leadership in all walks of life and always be ready to
serve the nation.
In the Community & Society
i.
Involving members in monthly sanitation exercises.
ii. Participating in community services such as immunization, election
activities, census exercise, etc.
iii. As a result of identification with the National Cadet Corps (Nigeria),
teaches to adopt its tradition of high standards of performance, commitment,
duty and service, to seek to excel and face up to the challenge.
iv. It gives room for able bodies youths to discover their various talents
through camping and leadership courses.
v. Ensure cadets growth by exposing them to a challenging environment,
which in turn will imbibe into them leadership qualities, strong character and
civic, social and moral values.
